On a bright summer day in 2016 while working out on the track at Rice University, Damon saw a bright, bubbly, athletic woman bouncing around the track almost as if she owned it. Interested in knowing some specifics, he learned that Funmi Jimoh was the self-appointed queen of the track. After introductions and some initial flirtations there were a couple of missed dates. Eventually Funmi relented, and the first date was at Dave & Busters followed by a Houston Rockets game.

Through some trials and tribulations, Damon and Funmi rediscovered each other again December 2020. From there it has been a daily commitment to knowing each other, growing together and expressing love. The next step is to become one and spend the rest of their lives enjoying what life and God has in store for them.
